  • Bureau Veritas and EgyptAir M&E, working hand in hand

    “With Bureau Veritas team support, EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering Co (M&E) reached a high standard level of Quality in its organisation and is now recognised as a Major Maintenance repair Organisation in the Middle East and we hope soon in Europe” said Eng. Abd El-Aziz Fadel Fadel, Chairman of EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering Co.

     

    In June 2004, AIRBUS ordered at BUREAU VERITAS Aeronautics & Space Division a mission of regulatory and technical assistance of the EgyptAir Maintenance and Engineering Company in order to obtain the EASA Part 145 (EC 2042/2003) approval.

     

    This assistance did consist in:

     

    -          Assessment of then current situation,

    -          Assistance in the development of company procedures and departments organisation guides lines,

    -          Coordination with EASA competent Authority all along the approval process,

    -          MOE review and fine tuning for acceptance by the EASA competent Authority,

    -      Maintenance staff training to Part 145 regulation and associated procedures (MOE), as well as Humans Factors in maintenance,

    -          Auditors training,

    -          Blank audit before EASA competent Authority conformity audit.

     

     

    In addition to this first step, EgyptAir M&E required BUREAU VERITAS to continue this regulatory assistance in 2005 in order to prepare the EASA Part 145 approval, expected to be granted by January 2006. Two experts from BUREAU VERITAS were based on site.

     

    EgyptAir M&E received its initial Part 145 approval in January 2006 as scheduled for the general organization and the Line Maintenance activity in CAIRO for Airbus A320, A330, A340.

     

    As part of BUREAU VERITAS regulatory assistance continuation in 2006, EgyptAir M&E got its Part 145 scope of work extended to:

     

    -          Line Maintenance for Boeing aircraft (B 737, B 777)

    -          The Damman and Sharm El Sheik outstations Line Maintenance approval

    -          Base Maintenance for Airbus (A320, A330, A340) in CAIRO

    -          7 workshops located at the Main Base in CAIRO

     

    In 2007, EgyptAir M&E renews its confidence to BUREAU VERITAS in order to extend the part 145 Line Maintenance approval to several other outstations (Ourghada, Luxor, and Alexandria) and the Base Maintenance approval to Boeing aircraft. In addition, BUREAU VERITAS assists EgyptAir M&E in extending their Part 145 approval to the engine workshop.
