Bureau Veritas work with DP World on the verification of Container Terminal Inset Certificates

Registered through 123Carbon book and claim platform

Thrilled to share a meaningful milestone for the logistics sector

  and our sustainability community

Over the past months, we at Bureau Veritas had the opportunity to work with DP World on the verification of their Container Terminal Inset Certificates — now formally registered through the 123Carbon book and claim platform.

🚢 The new Container Terminal Inset Certificates are created through emissions reductions at DP World’s Southampton terminal, and offer a practical demonstration of how real and measurable emission reductions within the logistics value chain can be verified and transferred through a transparent and credible system.

Throughout this journey, Bureau Veritas applied its experience in logistics decarbonization and rigorous verification approaches — including ISO 14083, the SFC GLEC Logistics Emissions Council Framework, and the SFC MBM Framework — to ensure each emission reduction claim was assessed against clear, robust, and transparent credibility and compliance criteria.

The success of this pilot also reflects strong cross regional collaboration, with DP World, SLR, and 123Carbon each contributing important expertise that helped shape and operationalize this MBM aligned insetting solution. I’m grateful for the constructive partnership throughout this journey, which sets a solid foundation for future insetting initiatives across global logistics.

Most importantly, this milestone signals encouraging progress for the wider industry:

➡️ insetting can help accelerate sector wide decarbonization,
➡️ strengthen value chain climate action, and
➡️ support long term movement toward net zero pathways.

Grateful for the trust and collaboration from all partners involved. Looking forward to seeing more organisations explore credible insetting approaches that create meaningful emissions impact where it matters most.
